SHAKIB Al Hasan's solid double century and Mushfiq's 159 marked a great turn-around for the Tigers in the first Test against New Zealand at Wellington. Both centuries came at a time when Bangladesh could not have asked for any thing better and those two big scores helped Bangladesh pile up a mammoth first innings total of 595 for 8 declared. The record breaking partnership of Shakib and Mushfiq salvaged some pride for the Tigers after they ingloriously lost both the ODI and T20 series.
The batting performance of the two stalwarts of Bangladesh team will inspire the whole team to play to their best. Playing Test in New Zealand conditions is not easy at all, and the performance of Bangladesh shows that they are coming of age fast. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) should prepare different kinds of pitches at home so that our players can adjust themselves to any situation quickly in both fast and slow pitches. Test cricket is a different ball game the real cricket that brings out the real talents in a player. Congratulation to Shakib and Mushfiq for their outstanding performance and I hope Bangladesh will carry on with their good work for the rest of the tour.
